Last week, a group of 22 students from Years 8–10 visited the hospital wing of Fairview Retirement Village to lead worship and perform some musical items for the residents. The students had spent several lunchtimes preparing and were excited for the opportunity to bless those in our wider community with the gift of music.
The Year 4 and Year 6 classes had made beautiful cards for each of the residents, featuring Bible verses and encouraging hand-written messages. The performance was very well received, and afterwards the students spent time chatting with the residents, praying for them, and giving them the cards made by the primary students.
We received this follow-up email from the village staff:
“The joy you brought was truly priceless and unforgettable. Your visit made a lasting impression on their hearts and minds — so much so that even this afternoon, they are still talking about the experience with bright smiles and full hearts. The residents and staff also express their deep gratitude for the beautiful cards and heartfelt messages you all prepared. Thank you once again for the love, music, and kindness you shared.”
It’s so special to see the students stepping into opportunities to use their God-given gifts and talents to show Jesus’ love to others. Glory to God!
